What is the Brookhaven Bolt?
The Brookhaven Bolt is a 5k Run/Walk/Stroller push through one of Brookhaven’s most beautiful neighborhoods – Ashford Park. The 2019 race will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 8:00 A.M. starting and finishing at Village Place Brookhaven on Dresden Drive, 1/4 mile South of Peachtree Road.
How do I register?
Register online at active.com or register in person at any Big Peach Running Co. location.
Where do I pick up my packet?
You can pick up your race packet at Big Peach Running Co. AT TOWN BROOKHAVEN on Friday May 19th, from 4-8 PM. Anyone not picking up their pack on the 20th will be able to get their race number on race morning and then their race packet and shirt after the race at the T-Shirt/Packet Pickup table at the Post Race Festival.

Where is handicap parking?
Handicap parking is located in the Village Place parking lot directly behind J. Christopher’s. You may only enter at the parking lot at the entrance located directly adjacent to J. Christopher’s. Dresden Drive will be closed from Camille to Ellijay. When you reach the road closure please indicate to the police officer that you require handicap access, they will direct you from there.
How long is the course?
The course is 3.1 miles, or 5 kilometers
Is the course hilly or flat?
The Brookhaven Bolt race course is variable with rolling hills and a challenging finish.
Do winners get awards or medals?
Yes! We give out both prizes and medals or trophies to the top three male and female finishers plus top three male/female finishers in all age groups. We will have the top finishers list visibly posted by the DJ van and will allow pick up through our awards volunteer as soon as you see your name written on the board. If you think you are top 3 in a category, check the board frequently as they will be posted ASAP. Medals and trophies will only be available for pickup on race day.
Who receives the proceeds from the event?
The Ashford Park School Education Foundation plans and manages the Brookhaven Bolt. Proceeds are distributed directly to Ashford Park Elementary School.
I SIGNED UP BUT COULD NOT ATTEND PACK PICK UP OR THE RACE. HOW DO I GET MY SHIRT?
We, like most other races, simply do not have the man power to host post race shirt pick up. If you know you cannot attend either pack pick up or the race, PLEASE make every effort to send someone to pick up your shirt and packet for you. They can go to Big Peach Town Brookhaven the day before the race 4-8pm or come to race day sign up behind Verde at Village Place on Dresden Drive from 6:45-7:45am.
I SIGNED UP, BUT I CANNOT RUN. CAN I GET A REFUND?
Since all money from registrations goes directly to the charity/Ashford Park Elementary, we are unable to issue refunds for any reason. We greatly appreciate your donation to the Brookhaven Bolt and the school. You are making a HUGE difference in some special lives. We hope to see you next year. You may, however, sell your numbers if you would like.
Can I bring my dog? Can I bring a stroller?
Strollers are allowed and encouraged. A separate stroller start will occur shortly after all of the runners and walkers have embarked. Pets are allowed but we require that our pet owners bring the necessary supplies to keep our race route and community clean. Runners with dogs, please make sure to respect the competitive runners and start near the back of the crowd.
I plan to walk the Brookhaven Bolt. How will you ensure that walkers and strollers are not mixed in with runners?
Runners will start promptly at 8:00am. Walkers, pet participants and strollers will follow at 8:05am.
Will there be restrooms and water breaks along the course?
There will not be restrooms along the course. Restrooms will be available at the start of the race and at the Finish Line. Water will be available at one water station located on Redding Road on the LEFT side of the road shortly after turning off Caldwell Road, and of course at the Finish line area.
What if I don’t want to run or walk, but do want to contribute a donation to the school?
You may stop by the school and drop off a donation prior to the race. You may also donate online through the Ashford Park School Education Foundation.
Why should I participate?
To support one of DeKalb County’s rising elementary schools. Very tight county school budgets unfortunately are not enough to position schools to thrive and grow at this time. This fundraiser is by far the most important for the school and the school needs funding and resources to continuously improve. Your registration becomes a direct donation to the school to help them achieve even loftier results.
